Wall Street Journal Asks Breakfast Nook Vs Outdoor Living Living Space

The Wall Street Journal recently ran an article entitled "Blueprint for a New American Home: Expanding the Spaces a Family Really Uses; More Practical Doesnt Have to Mean Smaller" and brings up how outdoor living rooms are still hot on the trend list for homeowners and contractors.

The shift, says the WSJ, is that builders and homeowners are "shifting away from the aspirational, and more towards the practical." Below is the WSLs Lunch Break video highlighting "Whats In, and Whats Out?" in modern home design.

The main points made in the article are that people want to invest in spaces that their families use more often, like a dining area, work area and an outdoor living space. Homeowners are investing by expanding these living areas, making them more comfortable, less formal and more functional. Custom outdoor fire pits are a great way to extend time spent outdoors in useful and functional space. Entertaining family and friends as well as transforming your patio into a popular dining area is one of the top trends according to home builders and re-modellers. Many designers state they are installing more and more sliding glass patio doors to help blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living.

So when you are in the market to begin expanding your outdoor living space and create an entertainment space, think about including a natural gas or propane burning system in your fire pit as they are easy to control, you can turn them off with the flip of a switch, and they do not spew harmful smoke, ash and embers into the air.
